Ashley Bourgeois, DVM, DACVD
Veterinary Dermatologist, Speaker, Podcaster, Media Personality
Dr. Ashley Bourgeois is a board-certified veterinary dermatologist passionate about providing practical knowledge to general practitioners to help itchy pets! She completed her bachelor’s degree at Iowa State University and graduated from the University of Missouri’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She then completed a one-year small animal internship at Purdue University. Upon finishing her internship, she accepted a residency position with the Animal Dermatology Clinic’s Tustin, California location in 2011. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 2014. Dr. Bourgeois moved to Portland, Oregon in 2016 to help expand the company. She has a strong interest in autoimmune skin diseases, allergies, cytology, and otology.
In her leisure, Dr. Bourgeois enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and watching sports. She and her husband stay busy with their daughter, son, and rescue Pitbull/Boxer mix. Dr. Bourgeois is passionate about educating veterinarians in dermatology and work/life integration through her podcast, lecturing, and social media presence (The Derm Vet).

Jan Bellows, DVM, Dipl. AVDC, ABVP
Veterinarian, Owner of All Pets Dental
Dr. Bellows received his undergraduate training at the University of Florida and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. After completing a small animal internship at The Animal Medical Center, he returned to South Florida where he still practices companion animal medicine surgery and dentistry at ALL PETS DENTAL, in Weston Florida. He is certified by the Board of Veterinary Practitioners (canine and feline) since 1986 and American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) since 1990. He was president of the AVDC from 2012-2014 and is currently president of the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry. Dr. Bellows’ veterinary dentistry accomplishments include authoring five dental texts- The Practice of Veterinary Dentistry.
A team effort (1999), Small Animal Dental Equipment, Materials, and Techniques (2005, second edition 2019), and Feline Dentistry (2010, second edition 2022). He is a frequent contributor to DVM Newsmagazine and a charter consultant of the Veterinary Information Network’s (VIN) dental board since 1993. He was also chosen as one of the dental experts to formulate AAHA’s three Small Animal Dental Guidelines published in 2005 and updated in 2013 and 2019.

Sheilah Robertson, BVMS (Hons), PhD, DACVAA, DECVAA, DACAW, DECAWBM (WSEL), MRCVS
Senior Medical Director, Lap of Love.
After graduating from the University of Glasgow Dr Robertson undertook specialized training in anesthesia and pain management. She is board certified in anesthesia and animal welfare by the respective American and European Colleges. She holds a certificate in small animal acupuncture and in shelter medicine. She has published widely on the recognition and treatment of pain and anesthetic management of companion animals. She has worked in private practice and in university teaching hospitals. Currently, she is the senior medical director of Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, a large network of veterinarians dedicated to end-of-life care. Dr. Robertson is also a courtesy Professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Florida.

Dave Nicol, BVMS, Cert Mgmt MRCVS
Veterinarian, VetX International Founder, Author, Speaker, Podcaster.
Dr. Dave Nicol is a veterinarian with more than 20 years of experience in general practice and has held several leadership roles within practice and industry. He has written three books, most recently the best-selling, So You’re A Vet...Now What? – a manifesto on how to survive as a veterinarian after graduation. Dr Dave hosts The Blunt Dissection podcasts which combined have been played more than 250,000 times. He owns Roundwood Vets, a boutique vet practice in London, and founded VetX International to help vets connect with their careers and help practice owners create fantastic practices for the vets to work in. He speaks at conferences all over the world to speak about his favorite topic of leadership and generally cheerleading for the veterinary profession. In 2019 he was voted VMX Practice Manager
Speaker of the Year.

Denise Tumblin, the owner of WTA Veterinary Consultants, provides management, valuation, and transition services to independently-owned veterinary practices across the U.S. Her company co-authors the Well-Managed Practice Benchmarks Study, and Denise is the co-founder and facilitator of the WellMP Management Groups. Denise speaks regularly at national and regional meetings on valuation and management topics and has authored numerous veterinary management articles.

Heather has spent over 30 years in the veterinary industry, with 20 years in small animal practice. She has taught for several years for both veterinary technology and assistance programs and has authored the book “Practice Management for the Veterinary Team”, with the 4 edition to be released summer of
2023. Heather has also authored the book “Review Questions and Answers for Veterinary Technicians” that are preparing to sit for the VTNE, now in its 6 edition. Heather is well known and lectures nationally and internationally and has authored several articles with the goal of developing leadership and culture in practices while employing appropriate team leveraging to increase efficiency and enhance the ‘flow of services’ in the veterinary practice. When she is not lecturing, writing, or consulting, she instructs the Practice Management courses with Appalachian State University, volunteers for industry groups, and serves as President-Elect with the Viticus Group (formally known as WVC) Board of Directors, as Secretary with the Pet Nutrition Alliance, and as a Board Director with NAVTA.

Rob Pope
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Rob Pope is one of Britain’s best known ultrarunners - the term used for those who find their fun beyond the marathon distance. He’s not too bad as a marathon runner either, Rob became the Australian Marathon Champion at the Australian Marathon Championships in 2015, won the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in 2015 and 2016, where he ran a personal best of 2:27:13.
He also now holds a Guinness World Records for the fastest marathon completed while dressed as a film character.
As well as being a vet and a proud dad, he is also the host of Red Bull’s “How to be Superhuman” podcast.
And now, he is the author of what is set to be one of the classic running books of all time - “Becoming Forrest”, published Oct ober 14th by Harper North.

Terry Virts
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Col. Terry Virts (ret) served as a U.S. Air Force test fighter pilot, is a NASA veteran of two spaceflights and a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Harvard Business School.
In 2019 he directed his first film, One More Orbit. His second book, How to Astronaut, continues to amass excellent reviews. He is currently involved in several film and television projects, serves on corporate boards, consults to the entertainment industry, writes and promotes public policy.
He is a celebrated thought leader, speaker and author whose seven months in space included: piloting the Space Shuttle; commanding the International Space Station; three spacewalks; and performing scientific experiments, while working closely with multiple international partners. Virts worked with Russian Space Agency cosmonauts during some of the most stressful U.S.-Russian relations since the Cold War.
While in space he took more than 300,000 photos – more than on any other space mission. The images are an integral component of the National Geographic IMAX film A Beautiful Planet, which Virts also shot and stars in. His first book for National Geographic, View From Above, combines his best photography with stories about spaceflight alongside his perspectives about life on earth and our place in the cosmos.
An in-demand speaker at events across the globe, Virts’ inspires audiences with stories from space as well as his insights into life on earth. He brings his unique perspective to businesses worldwide on diverse topics such as our environment, global wealth, intercultural leadership, crisis and risk management, innovation, strategy and vision and decision making.
